The Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame has a summer employment opportunity for a Museum Assistant which will run for a period of 12 weeks between mid May to mid August. 

Job Description - Museum Docent and Virtual Tour Designer

Role and Responsibilities

Program Docents deliver public programs in museums. The Docent provides experiential learning opportunities which explore and examine the collections and exhibition themes. This project will be to construct the closest possible online replication of a tour that a Docent would provide so that the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame and Museum may be appreciated in a virtual manner for access by Canadians across Canada.

Employment activities in this project are designed to move us towards the goal of a larger national footprint and reach through the development of a virtual docent program that will also provide the basic materials to be later incorporated in outreach to schools of online educational and school project work.

The project will plan and develop 2- 3 & 10 minute video compilations on the larger concept we will define as “Lacrosse History in 20 Objects” (a concept tailored after the very success British Museum’s History of the World in 100 Objects). Work will include session research, layout, photography and video creation and editing (software training provided).

Shorter videos will be primarily for the Virtual Docent program and made available for though our main web site. 

Qualifications and Education and Preferred Skill Requirements

Requirements include registration in the Young Canada Works inventory at  https://young-canada-works.canada.ca

  • Completion of a year study in history, education, design is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Office Software and photo/video editing software desired
